Due to a series of procedural errors at our vehicle testing operations in Korea, Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. is initiating the adjustment of fuel consumption ratings for approximately 130,000 vehicles from the 2011-2013 model years that were leased or sold prior to November 2, 2012.

We recognize that fuel efficiency may have played a role in your decision to buy a Hyundai. To that end, we are committed to compensating you fairly for the change in your vehicle’s fuel consumption rating.

We will compensate you for the difference in the combined fuel consumption rating through a personalized, pre-paid credit card. Compensation is based on the average fuel price in your region and the vehicle’s actual kilometres driven. You will be able to apply for a new pre-paid credit card at any time for as long as you own the vehicle. For convenience, Hyundai recommends owners apply for a new pre-paid credit card annually or every 20,000 km. If you are a prior owner of an affected vehicle and have already sold your car, you will be reimbursed using the same formula.

It is important to note that this situation does not affect the safety systems of Hyundai vehicles.

With the adjusted fuel consumption ratings, Hyundai will continue to deliver among the best fuel efficiency performance in the industry and remains committed to ensuring our vehicles deliver outstanding fuel consumption to provide greater value and efficiency for our customers.
